Make
sure all of your scheduled maintenance is up to date and that your
vehicle is in tune. Here are a few checks you can make yourself.
|
| |
|
| |
- Check
your owner's manual for the proper viscosity oil to use for your
climate. Usually 5W30 or 10W30 is recommended.
- Check
the protection level of your antifreeze.
- Check
your belts, hoses, and top off all fluid levels.
- Check
your tire's air pressure and tread depth.
- Make
sure your windshield washers work and are adjusted. Top off windshield
washer fluid.
- Check
the condition of all your wiper blades. Carry a spare set of wiper
blades in case they get damaged from ice or snow.
- Check
climate control system to verify the blower motor is quiet and
works on all speeds. Also verify the air is delivered to the proper
location when selected.
- Make
sure your vehicle's engine reaches operating temperature and you
have plenty of hot air available on demand.
- Make
sure your rear defroster works.
- Check
your brakes and make sure your car stops straight without any
vibration.
- Lubricate
all locks and hinges and brake cables.
